John Joseph O'Connell, M.D.
John Joseph O'Connell, M.D. is the Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Fibro-Resolve™, Inc. A physician-scientist and inventor, he is the primary architect of the firm’s proprietary Frequency-Modulated Tumor Treating Fields (FM-TTFields™) technology.
Dr. O'Connell is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a degree in Electrical Engineering and earned his medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine. As a board-certified Radiation Oncologist with over 25 years of experience, he uniquely bridges the gap between complex cellular physics and precision bioelectric engineering.
A dedicated educator and researcher, Dr. O'Connell served as a Residency Program Director for six years and has directed medical student clerkships for over a decade. His academic contributions span 12 peer-reviewed publications, covering advanced Radiation Physics, Ion and Proton Beam Therapy, and resident education. Dr. O'Connell’s clinical insights are grounded in rigorous research; he has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications focusing on the mechanisms of Tumor Treating Fields and broader oncological therapeutics, ensuring that innovations remain at the forefront of bioelectric medicine at Fibro-Resolve™.
A distinguished veteran of the Iraq War, Dr. O'Connell’s military career is marked by the Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit, and the Senior Parachutist Badge. He applies this standard of tactical leadership to Fibro-Resolve™, directing clinical strategy and overseeing the transition of FM-TTFields™ from pre-clinical validation into Phase 0 development.
With extensive Institutional Review Board (IRB) experience, he is currently spearheading the expansion of the company’s intellectual property portfolio and the engineering of an industrial-grade medical device ecosystem designed to disrupt complex disease pathways in oncology and fibrosis.
